Beauty | Drugstore Haul

Sorry for being M.I.A. recently, I’ve been quite busy, but I’m back now! Today we’re getting back on schedule with a drugstore haul. Now, these are just a few bits that I needed to grab on my most recent shopping trip. However, the products are mainly skincare and haircare, as opposed to makeup related bits. With that little disclaimer out of the way, let’s get into it.

So, I recently dyed my hair, nothing major, but I added a few highlights and lowlights (I used the L'Oréal Préférence Glam Bronde in 03 and 04) and knowing my luck, it didn’t turn out quite as I’d hoped. At first it looked rusty and very warm-toned, but after talking to a friend, she recommended that I used purple shampoo. So I did, and oh my god, it’s worked miracles. I picked up the Charles Worthington Colour Enhancer Violet Toning shampoo and conditioner from Boots, and because these were 3 for 2, I also grabbed the Charles Worthington Colour Revive Mousse Violet Toning. When I first tried this out, I wasn’t too sure of what to expect, but I really wasn’t expecting my whole shower to turn purple. Yes, I know it’s in the name; purple shampoo/conditioner, but I have very little common sense and this came as a surprise to me, lol.

While in Boots, I was in desperate need of some moisturiser, nothing fancy, so I picked up my all-time favourite one, which is the Garnier Intensive 7 Days Lotion in mango. This stuff honestly works wonders. Recently my skin has been so dry and just not very nice, but having been applying this after the shower, my skin is starting to look and feel like normal again, plus it smells amazing.

On to something slightly more fun, interesting, and makeup related. When I was in Superdrug I went to the false eyelashe section and picked up three fabulous pairs of lashes. Now, so far I’ve only been able to test out one pair, and I already think they’re my favourite lashes I’ve tried. Yes, they’re even better than Ardells’ Demi Wispies… The night I tried these I was slightly drunk and I managed to get them on in one take, something that I normally struggle with when I’m sober. This pair was the Eylure Rosie Bea "Heyday" lashes, this style of lash fans out more towards the end of the eye, meaning that the lashes aren’t all the same length along the whole lid, this helps create a more natural look but still creates definition. The second pair of lashes I picked up are also a part of the same Rosie Bea range, but I got them in "Frolic". This pair is also slightly fanned, however, the length is a lot longer than the previous pair. Lastly, I picked up a pair of Kiss lashes in "Iconic". I’ve only ever tried one other pair of Kiss lashes, and I was impressed. Despite having to cut the lashes to fit my eye, the overall effect was very natural looking, which I love. I’m yet to try these but I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.

That’s everything I picked up at the drugstore, and I hoped you enjoyed the post. Again, I do apologise for slacking recently, but I have a few more exciting posts coming soon!

Until next time,

Nadia

Uni | Finishing First Year

The time has come; my first year at university is over. All assignments have been submitted, all exams complete, meaning I won’t have to return to the lovely campus that is the University of Roehampton until September, with the odd occasion in-between for university events. Other than that, I am done, complete, finished!

It’s safe to say that this past year has flown by. I know everyone tells you that to begin with; that your time at university will be over before you know it, but quite honestly I wasn’t expecting it to go by that fast. A part of me is gutted that I won’t be able to see my flatmates every day, but in return, I’ll be back home with my family. Since being at uni, I've honestly met some of my now closest friends, as well as memories that I certainly won’t forget, like breaking my arm (lol), going on tour, Frigby, and of course weekly Fez nights out. I just hope second year will be just as good, minus the injuries.

I do have a few things to look forward to for second year, like living with familiar faces, being with everyone again, and of course, study abroad!! From January to May I'll be in North Carolina continuing my studies and I honestly cannot wait, but the 8 hour flight there can, safe to say I don't travel well.

Until next time,

Nadia

Confessions of A Shopaholic

Being a student isn’t a walk in the park, you know. I mean, when our student loans drop, do you know how hard it is not to go and buy everything nice you see? It’s very hard. The amount of times I’ve been tempted to buy myself a new phone, or treat myself to a spa day, and of course a holiday, the temptation is real, but I manage to talk myself out of buying any of them things. It’s the clothes, bags, shoes, sunglasses, the list goes on, that always get me.  I’m the type of girl that will spend all of her money on clothes, and if you were to put me in a room full of handbag, sunglasses, and shoes, it’s safe to say you’d never see me again.

So, having just received my student loan a few weeks ago, what better way to end first year than with a shopping trip. I can already hear my mum moaning in my ear telling me how I should be saving for more important things, but I just can’t help it.

The first purchase from my-oh-so generous student loan, was a denim jacket. These are everywhere at the moment, and everyone that I’ve seen wearing them either has an oversized one, or one covered in rips, especially on the back. So, when I saw this one I knew I wanted it. It was still oversized, but instead of rips, it has studs and roses on the shoulder and on the back. Believe it or not but this beauty is from Primark!!
Primark - £35
My second stop was in the recently refurbished Zara at Shepard’s Bush. Oh my god. It’s heaven. Despite this being the biggest Zara now, I only managed to find one thing that I ended up buying.

Zara - £15.99

Next up we have jewellery. Now, when it comes to jewellery the only metal that I tend to wear is silver, and my earrings and rings are what I wear on a daily basis. However, I’ve always wanted a necklace that I can wear and not worry about it not going with an outfit. So, when my friend and I were in Topshop, I went over to the Little Smith counter and decided to get myself a personalised necklace, because why the hell not.

Little Smith - £25
Also from Topshop, on a previous trip, I found myself in the shoe department. This was mainly because the shoes that I had on that day were KILLING my feet, and that was when I found these. Now, I have always liked sliders but it wasn’t something I was desperate to get. Until I saw these, that is. These aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I feel like they are a major makeover from the plain rubber sliders that are just everywhere.

That my friends, brings my little shopping spree to an end.

Until next time,

Nadia
